Work experiences Phra Ajarn Paphonpatchara Jiradhammo is a native of Ratchaburi, born on March 22, 1954, and he is the son of Pol. Maj. Tri Phibanphak and Mrs. Prapasri Sathatthian. When he graduated from the Bachelor of Engineering, majoring in Irrigation in 1976, he has been in the Royal Irrigation Department, Design Division, and was assigned to oversee the construction of Nam Un Dam, Sakon nakhon Province. Later, he decided to resign from the work to go for the ordination under Kasaya clothing in 1979 at Santi Sangkharam Temple, Sakon Nakhon Province in Dhammayuttika Nikaya by having Phra Ajanh Un Uttamo (the provost of the patriarchal affairs) as the preceptor. He stayed during the rainy season at Tham Pha Plong Temple, Chiang Mai for 5 years, and Santi Sangkharam Temple, Ban Bua, Omkoi, Chiang Mai, Khampramong Temple for a total of 41 years. During the Dharma ordination, he has practiced guidelines of teachers in the line of Phra Ajarn Man Phurithattha Maha Thera. In this regard,
Phra Ajahn Paponpatchara was a student of Luang Pu Sim Puttajaro (Phra Yan Sitta Ajarn) and assigned by Luang Pu to become the abbot of Khampramong Temple until the present day.

Later, in 1996, Phra Ajahn Paponpatchara was ill from getting nasopharyngeal cancer. At that time, he received modern medical treatment through receiving continuous chemotherapy and radiation for many months until his body was unable to receive the drug again, so he decided to reject treatment and went back to practice the meditation and prosperity until discovering the recipe of Thai herbal medicine from the "Super Cancer Treatment Drug" from a Thai traditional medicine book called "Pet Nam Ake". When receiving this drug, his condition gradually improved. After that, he had a physical examination every 6 months at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital up until now, and no cancer cells are remained.

Phra Ajahn Paponpatchara has established the "Thai Herbal Nursing Home (Arokhayasala)" in late 2004 to be a rehabilitation center for cancer patients that has an integrated treatment approach for patients, focusing on holistic care and combination of traditional Thai medicine. It uses natural herbs along with the use of Dharma (meditation therapy) and integrated medicine by not rejecting the treatment methods of modern medicine. The patients are closely supervised by relatives or loved ones in a natural environment, and continuously deliver the medicine to the houses of patients for all of their lives without charging any fees from patients. At present, Thai Herbal Nursing Home at Khampramong Temple has provided care for over 6,000 cancer patients, for both Thai and foreigners by providing unconditional care or restrictions and helping all cancer patients who are almost hopeless to treat to have more treatment options and better quality of life. Many people are able to return to normal life with their families again. All of the past expenses of more than 150 million baht have been donated by people who have faith and seen value in this project.

In this regard, Phra Ajahn Paponpatchara has revived the treatment of cancer by using "Thai herbal medicine" and "Thai traditional medicine" along together with the use of Dharma principles (Meditation therapy, mantra therapy) and various alternative medicine without blocking modern medicine and continuously support research and development of knowledge on Thai herbs and traditional Thai medicine, including cooperating with a network of volunteer minds of various educational institutions, expanding knowledge in both the development of drug formulas and herbal medicines for serious cancer treatment. On the other hand, he has introduced the teachings of the Lord Buddha to teach the patients to understand life as they truly are, causing the patient to be liberated from mental suffering and come back to the present day of suffering or it is called physical illness but not mentally ill. If they shall die, then it is to leave this world in peace with the dignity of humanity.

In addition, he has brought His Majesty the King's Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and selfsufficiency to be a role model and taught the patients and relatives to know how to be self-reliant and aware of the value of natural resources as well as the environment to use everything in the valuable way. Moreover, it is taught to live under the Dharma and nature without interfering with each other. It also helps to save the nation's budget for the import of cancer drugs, which are extremely expensive each year. The Thai Herbal Nursing Home (Arokhayasala) is not only providing the treatment for cancer with mercy and spirit of human, but it is also the place to learn and promote practical remedies for end-stage and chronic patients for medical and public health personnel, both at home and abroad, and it becomes a learning source for many public health agencies to study and adapt it to make a positive change for many chronic patients. Therefore, The Thai Herbal Nursing Home (Arokhayasala) has received a lot of attention from almost all media and received many outstanding awards, all of which are a result of dedication, commitment, sacrifice, and dedication for the happiness of all mankind over the past 15 years, as you once said, "Capital is the heart, and the profit is the happiness of the people”.

For this reason, there are increasing numbers of cancer patients who need treatment according to the guidelines of Thai Herbal Nursing Home (Arokhayasala), Khampramong Temple, respectively to support the increasing number of patients. Therefore, the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Ministry of Public Health has established a "Thai Traditional and Integrated Medicine Hospital for Cancer, Sakon Nakhon, Arokhayasala, Kham pramong Temple" in addition to providing treatment for cancer patients without any racial discrimination. It is also considered as a model hospital of cancer treatment with Thai traditional medicine and the first combined medicine in Thailand. The hospital has received the establishment code on 4th April 2014. The hospital committee has been established and implemented under the operation of the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Health Office by using the place which is the Thai Herbal Nursing Home (Arokhayasala), Khampramong Temple, and existing buildings that already have enough spaces to support the numbers of patients as well as providing support for multidisciplinary personnel to come to help developing it to be more standardized. This is still based on the old practices of Luangta Paponpatchara, which is free treatment without any charge for all patients.

Currently, the Thai Herbal Nursing Home at Khampramong Temple has no outstanding debt during the past operation. All past operating assets come from the faith in the work of Luangta Paponpatchara, and the work of volunteer spirit from various professions. It does not belong to
anyone person, but it is caused by the faith of the people who understand in the context of the Thai Herbal Nursing Home at Khampramong Temple, truly.

So, a volunteer project is held for only 1 day a year, and there are volunteers from all over the country from many professions, and they provide assistance in both financial and physical and mental strength to heal patients.
